7 spots left
Class Description
This drop in drawing opportunity is open to everyone, especially those who believe they can't draw. Pablo Picasso famously said "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." The only way to learn to draw is to draw. You don't need experience -- just curiosity. Bring your favorite drawing tools (see below for options). Some objects will be available, but if you like, bring a simple object like a vase, mug, or pitcher. This is an invitation to loosen up, get curious, and enjoy the act of drawing. The focus is not on "getting it right" or making a "pretty" drawing but on letting your hand wander, responding to what you see, and embracing happy accidents. Hosted by artist Susanlora Morris, the gathering will include warm-up exercises, a guided drawing exercise, and conversation about materials and approaches. We'll learn from one another, share the process, and enjoy the pleasure of drawing together. Supply list: Paper options: - Recommended: 90 lb. paper designed for sketching. - Watercolor paper is NOT recommended - Single sheets of paper can also be used Drawing options: - Graphite pencils: a variety of leads is good, for instance and HB, B, 3B and 6B Recommended: Faber Castell, Derwent, Tombo and Black Wing - Mechanical pencils, Micron pen, ball point pen, crayons, colored pencils, etc Misc: - Pencil sharpener (hand held) - Eraser (kneaded and/or white eraser)
