Class Description

Discover the freedom of combining materials and techniques in this playful, mixed media enhanced open studio format. Each participant will work on their own unique project and bring their own supplies (see supply examples below). Emphasis is on experimenting with layering, texture, and color to create individually expressive artwork with guidance, demonstrations, examples, and assistance from Susanlora.   Perfect for all levels—especially those who think they’re “not artists”—this class encourages curiosity, risk-taking, and creative discovery.    Mixed media combines two or more mediums applied in layers, for example, paint and collage, ink and watercolor, charcoal & pastel, found objects and paint, stitching and drawing. You might see smooth paint next to rough paper, transparent washes over bold lines or collage, delicate drawing combined with expressive mark-making.    Supply ideas: mixed media paper, Bristol board, cardboard, wood panel, glue sticks, gloss or matte medium, acrylic or gouache paint (dries faster), markers of all kinds, ink, stencils, stamps, paint brushes, water container, found paper, magazine clippings, old book illustrations or text, fabric, needle and thread, pencils, crayons, dip pens, sketch pencils (HB, 2B, 6B), paper towel or rags if you are using paint.      Hosted by Susanlora Morris (IG: @susanlora).  Limited to 8 students. $5 registration fee to hold your place.  Dates offered:  Thursdays, March 5, March 19, April 2  1pm - 3 pm
