The 2023 Winter "Take Part in Art" series has begun:
"Take Part in Art" events are open to anyone interested
in the stimulation that comes from sharing/exploring the
artistic process. Join us for professional presentations,
youth classes, "group artists' shares", open group studio
times, and other events.

The series kicked off on Wednesday, Nov 15, with Katarina Keoughan's presentation of “Where creative ideas come from?". There was a wonderful turnout for this invigorating and informative event.

On Wednesday, January 17, at 2:00 p.m. there is the always-energizing "Open Group Artist Share" where artists bring a piece for "show and tell" and group discussions. Another "Open Group Artist Share" is being planned to explore the often-experienced question of “How do we fix this?” when things go awry during the creative process.

-
On January 21, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. "Open Studio" times begin in the Harbor View gallery upstairs. Artists will BYO supplies and share productive studio and creative times with other artists. Join in the fun and rare experience of sharing the artistic process with others.

Welcome to our Gallery

In the Heart of Boothbay Harbor, Maine

Since 1964, the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Inc., an inclusive, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has served the artists, communities, and students of the Boothbay Region through fine art sales and promoting education. Our mission has been to help artists of all ages to create, enjoy, learn from, display, and participate in many forms of the visual arts. The gallery provides the venue to promote artists and generate income to provide scholarships for area graduating students to continue their art education. Tax-deductible donations to honor the arts are critical for BRAF to continue serving our communities.

The Annual "ART IN THE SQUARE" is here!!
Once again, BRAF has invited regional artists, of any age, to participate in the “Art in the Square” showcase. The show’s purpose is to support BRAF’s High School Scholarship Fund, BRAF’s hosting of the Annual Pre-K-thru-12 Student Art Show, the participating artists and the gallery's operation. All squares sell for only $125 so customers have the unique opportunity to purchase original artwork by their favorite, or other well-known regional artists, just in time for the Holidays. Artists are challenged to use their imaginations to paint, draw, glue, print, weave, or whatever upon the 12” x 12” empty, white space of the canvases.

2023 BRAF's Annual Juried "ARTinME Showcase"
ARTinME (Art in Maine) was the premier event of 2023. This exhibition, juried by Diana Kerr, featured only "Large Format" artworks. It was so striking, unique, and rare to view the volume of impressive and sizable works presented at one time. Quite a crowd gathered for the awards presentations to Carol Wiley, Doug Houle, Charlie Nowell, and Jeanne Ouellette.

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation is not your typical Gallery...

In 1963, twenty-six founding artists desired to leave a legacy to the Boothbay Region that had given them inspiration and livelihoods. They develop the model of selling their artwork to help fund a Boothbay Region High School Scholarship Foundation to assist local college bound graduates with an interest in artistic endeavors. Over a half a century later, the members, artists, and volunteers of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation Inc., a 501{c}(3) charitable and educational nonprofit organization, continue that operational model through the Gallery. The artists still return a portion of their sale proceeds to the Foundation to support the Gallery, the inclusion of K-12 Art Shows, and the BRAF Scholarships. Your donations will also contribute to this long legacy of giving back, inspired by the bounty of the Boothbay Region.
