From the President

February, 2022

We had some sad news this January with the passing of our long time, and beloved Board member, Tony van Hasselt.  Our deepest sympathy to his dear wife, Jan.  We are in the process of planning a memorial tribute to Tony.  We will post our plans as soon as they are final.

New members to our Board are: Clark Griffith, architect and ceramic artists and Andre Benoit, M.D. retired physician and assemblage artist.  We look forward to having them and the diverse talents they bring on the Board.

Our first big event for the season will be the 17th annual juried Maine Photography Show.  Board member and show organizer, Bruce Burnham tells me this year we had 249 entries and that 112 were selected.  The show will run from April 9th through May 6th.  Look for pictures from the show on this site in April.

Finally, our exciting news for the year.  At the February Board Meeting, it was decided that we should replace the carpeting in the gallery upstairs and down.  We will be replacing our very tired and worn carpeting with wood look vinyl composite flooring.  This will be very long lasting and easy to maintain.

President-elect Andie Elwell has pledged $5,000.00 toward the cost of this project.  We would much appreciate additional donations.

They can be sent to: Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Box124, 1 Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
