Exhibit Focuses on Maine Artists Working Large

It was the most glorious of fall evenings for the opening reception and awards presentation of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation's annual juried ARTinME exhibit on Saturday, October 3rd. Artists and admirers packed into the BRAF Gallery to take in this year's show, which showcases large-format works created by Maine artists. The exhibit will be on display until November 7th, 2026, at the BRAF Gallery, located at 1 Townsend Ave in Boothbay Harbor.

58 works were accepted into the exhibit (slideshow below), which was juried by Dennis Gleason of Gleason Fine Art. This year's top prize went to Winslow Myers' perspective shifting "Overpass & River," with 2nd prize awarded to Missy Asen's mouth-watering take on a platter of bivalves, "Briny in Manhattan." Sonja Weber Gilkey's flowing sisal wall sculpture "Infinite Sun & Moon Rising" took third place. Honorable mentions were given to Philip Bascle's "Southern Nights," Allison Bishop's "Lively" and Charles Nowell's "Birds of Paradise."

Gleason stated that he "found it difficult choosing from the diverse offerings submitted for this year's ARTinME. It was a challenge to select among the widely varied approaches of the individual artists, both emerging and more experienced."
