This summer, The Boothbay Region Art Foundation invites you to explore your artistic potential with a diverse lineup of adult art classes through BRAF's Take Part in Art program. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, our workshops offer exploration into a variety of mediums. Workshops can be booked online by clicking the titles below or in-person at the BRAF Gallery.
Kick off your summer by learning the essential steps to begin any painting. Katharina Keoughan will guide you through composition, color selection, and foundational techniques, helping you build confidence and set the stage for successful artwork.

June 16th, 18th & 20th: Introduction to Wood Carving with Wayne Robbins
Discover the timeless craft of wood carving in this three-session workshop. Wayne Robbins, known for his delicate carvings of marine creatures and birds, will introduce you to basic tools, safety, and carving techniques, allowing you to create your own unique wooden piece from start to finish.
Dive into the vibrant world of gelli printing! Daryne Rockett will show you how to use gelli plates, stencils, and layers of color to produce eye-catching prints. This class is perfect for anyone interested in playful experimentation and printmaking.
Expand your horizons with watermedia! Debra Arter will lead you through a creative exploration of watercolor and other water-based mediums, sharing techniques to help you achieve expressive, luminous results.
July 10th & 11th: Collage & the Abstract Painting Process with Sarah Wilde
Unleash your imagination in this two-day workshop with Sarah Wilde. You’ll learn how to combine collage elements with abstract painting techniques, resulting in dynamic, layered artworks that reflect your personal vision.

July 16th, 17th, & 18th: Building the Sacred Altar with Georjean Machulis
Invoke the Divine Feminine and experience the art of creating meaningful spaces in this three-day class. Georjean Machulis will guide you through designing and constructing a personal altar, blending artistic expression with spiritual reflection.
Dive into the fascinating world where traditional artistry meets modern technology. Marcus Parsons will attempt to demystify the art form he's been practicing for years. During the demonstration, Parsons will guide attendees through his creative process, sharing insights into his tools, techniques, and the capabilities of digital painting.
